Shift

Well, we've finally reached the end of our journey with Chris and Win. It certainly has been quite a ride! The title of the book is Shift, and we can see both of the main characters shifting throughout the book.

In a comment to this blog, explain how Win's character shifts from the beginning to the end. What has changed about him? Is there any way in which he is the same as he was at the beginning? What about Chris? How has his character shifted throughout the book? Do you think he has changed as much as Win? Why or why not? Finally, take a look at the relationship between Chris and Win. How has that changed over the course of the book?

Be sure to include specific examples from the book in your answers.

The Boys and Jacob . . . and the Angel

Today in class, we talked about how the story of Jacob wrestling the Angel relates to Chris and Win's story. Leave a comment that answers the following questions.

1. Which boy plays the role of Jacob in Shift? Which one takes the role of the Angel? Why do you think this?
2. Chris says that he understands what Jacob was fighting for. What was Jacob fighting for, and how is what Win was fighting for similar or different?
3. After they fight, the Angel blesses Jacob. Does Chris bless Win in any way? How do you know if he did or not?
